Rehearsal ; lighting and blocking on stage.

For the performance, the stage was set as shown above. It was like an elongated u shape with a table and two chairs at one end a single chair on the other and a bench at stage right in-front of the protruding part of the stage. Although not shown in the picture, there was two exits either side of the stage and one curtain entrance and exit at the back.

It was fun and interesting to use the minimalistic set because you can really create a good scene without much material. This unit we were mainly focusing on our acting and how we can show the audience where we were/what we were doing and who we were through the dialogue and performance. When we did Macbeth however, we had backdrops and costume to clearly show where we were and who we were. This time around, we were all in black which was also mainly because the scenes were too short to transition costume, but we thought if we were going to go minimal why not go throughout; we thought that it was a good idea because the play was contemporary so decided to strip off all the excess necessities such as costume and loads of set.

As pointed out above I have made a diagram of where I was situated on the stage during each of my scenes. For Grass I was in the are of the table and chairs; Phil sat down on the chair toward the left where as I stood up behind the chair to the right. In terms of lighting, we had a simple dim light; we wanted to show we were in a room at night. We were the basement of the home so we made the lighting dingy. At the end police sirens wailed to then show what I had been threating about being questioned was about to come true.and  For Terminal I had sat down on the chair stage right. I had a blue wash, to express loneliness of the situation. It also showed how this was going to be an upsetting scene. It also showed the coldness of the atmosphere, and the shock of when I find out I am terminally ill. For star I sat down at the table. The BBC news theme cued my entrance and exit and I had a spotlight on me to convey the fact I was giving a news bulletin. For recluse, again similar to Grass, we had dingy lighting to show night time. We had a doorbell sound effect to cue Tia to walk on from Stage left. Also the Low lit lighting evokes secrecy, that I was hiding something and hiding away from society - that was the point of the scene. For savant, I sat in the same spot for Star. I had the same lighting too because I was being interrogated and it acted as the light being shone in my face. For earthquake in was sat On the bench. It acted as the Bed in was sitting in in our one bedroom council home. we had lower lighting, because I was watching TV and it showed how it was night time again too.
