Rehearsal ; lighting and blocking on stage.

Image
For the performance, the stage was set as shown above. It was like an elongated u shape with a table and two chairs at one end a single chair on the other and a bench at stage right in-front of the protruding part of the stage. Although not shown in the picture, there was two exits either side of the stage and one curtain entrance and exit at the back. It was fun and interesting to use the minimalistic set because you can really create a good scene without much material. This unit we were mainly focusing on our acting and how we can show the audience where we were/what we were doing and who we were through the dialogue and performance. When we did Macbeth however, we had backdrops and costume to clearly show where we were and who we were. This time around, we were all in black which was also mainly because the scenes were too short to transition costume, but we thought if we were going to go minimal why not go throughout; we thought that it was a good idea because the play...

Evaluation

During the lead up to the big finale of performing our piece I had set myself goals that I wanted to achieve with my various partners. From the first week, having first impressions of our parts, to the week of performance I feel that we had grown as actors and made our characters have a more in-depth meaning, background and managed to convey the message we were trying to say.  In the first week, me and my partners sat down and having read the parts we were in, decided it was best to explain our initial thoughts on who the characters were and what exactly were we going to do with them. For example; In grass, there are clearly two characters with one angry with the other, that was as clear as day. We then decided perhaps what relation should they have in connection to one another. Other members from our group suggested we should be a couple, however we chose against the idea only because it would seem to obvious, especially in the line, "And to me and the kids- did you think abou...

Proposal on love and information

Section 1 – Rationale (approx. 100 words ) This section provides an opportunity to reflect on, review and summarise your progress and achievements through the first seven units. It also offers a chance for you to take stock of the knowledge, skills and understanding you have acquired, what you know now, compared with what you knew and could do before you started the course, and how this has influenced your choice of pathway and your project proposal. I feel that at the beginning of the term I was very rusty and new, as we all were. I wasn’t used to the in-depth approach to drama compared to what I was taught at GCSE. It was massive jump to the level we are taught at Westminster Kingsway. We were taught Stanislavsky in small detail during GCSE level but it was interesting to know his motives and approach on drama at College level. I think that from my first performance I have grown in state of mind toward drama; We have been taught to keep the naturalistic as...

Rehearsal: Characterisation / Backstory/ inspiration for my scene

Image
In total I am participating in 6 of the pieces of love and information. I'm in ; Grass, Terminal , Star, Recluse,  Earthquake, and Savant. We are all in wedding video at the end. I really like the play, especially the challenging aspect of it being up to the actor and director to shoot the scene. Its got quite controversial especially Terminal - its quite a touchy subject because we have all lost someone to an illness; and to be honest I want to do patients justice by playing it with thought and as natural as possible. And with earthquake; one of the  earliest memories of a catastrophic disaster I remember is the 2011 tsunami/earthquake disaster in Japan. I remember being gobsmacked I was only young at the time. I was in a hotel getting ready to go to a wedding reception, and the contrast of how they must be feeling (sad and terrified) in a midst to the fun I was going to have was compelling in retrospect. Grass For grass, I see myself and my partner Phil as these gangs...
